We respond to fires of multiple origins
including house fires, barn fires, brush fires, and the like. We have a team of interior firefighters to provide rescue and
fire suppression inside a burning building. Richford also provides mutual aide to fire departments within Tioga County as
well as Tompkins, Cortland, and Broome counties.
Car accidents make up the majority of our calls. On an average year 80%
of the calls in our district are car related. Route 79 and 38 can be extremely hazardous in the winter due to freezing conditions.
The town is a intersection for major commerce,
causing a large amount of hazards to come into our community. Through training and our equipment we are prepared to handle
hazardous material calls.
We provide fire prevention and demonstrations to local groups. We have provided our services to the local Girl Scout
troop and the Summer Youth Program. If you would like our services please contact us.
We are no strangers to flooding. We have aided
in flood relief efforts in 2006 and 2011. In 2013 Rt 79W had flooded and most of the hamlet of Richford, causing many roads
to be closed for more than 24 hours. We do provide assistants to those who have their basements flooded.
